Many college graduates face the challenge of finding employment with limited practical business experience. Dr. Anthony Vennero, assistant professor of business at Hartwick College, saw this first hand.

Vennero, who began teaching full-time in 2010, previously spent more than two decades handling large-scale “green” projects for commercial and industrial businesses while working for several global manufucturers including General Electric and Johnson Controls.

It was in 2015 when standout student James Buono couldn’t find work that Vennero decided to step in.

Familiar with Buono’s sustainability coursework and interest in the environment, Vennero used his industry experience and contacts to get Buono some much needed practical business experience, working for him as a consultant.

Little did they know that this temporary, part-time business venture would grow, after only sixteen months, into a multimillion dollar enterprise. Now, Potentia Management Group employs many more college students and recent graduates.

Anthony L. Vennero D.M., president and founder of Potentia Management Group, spent over twenty years working for numerous Fortune 500 technology companies including Westinghouse Electric, General Electric, Johnson Controls/York, United Technologies/Carrier Corporation and Invensys Corporation. He specialized in infrastructure efficiencies and operational cost reduction, working with hundreds of commercial clients, manufacturers, industrial businesses, Fortune 1000 corporations, academic institutions, medical institutions and government agencies across the Northeast.

He earned his doctorate of management from the University of Maryland University College, Graduate School of Management and Technology, a Master of Business Administration Degree from Sage Graduate School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from the State University of New York Institute of Technology. Graduate coursework in Industrial & Electrical Engineering from Binghamton University, Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science. Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from General Electric Industrial Systems.
